Sexuality Reflection - 1221 Words

I was raised Catholic and the Catholic church believes that sex is for a married couple to produce children and that is the closest thing I learned about sex and sexuality from Kindergarten to middle school. Sexuality almost seemed like something dirty and not in the way of who you liked made you dirty, but it almost seemed shameful to display something that wasn’t modest. School always frowned upon â€Å"PDA† such as hand holding, hugging and kissing in the halls, so I never felt comfortable talking about the subject. Once I came to Hamline, I learned that it is a concept that to me almost means being comfortable with yourself and how you present yourself to others more than it would be wearing revealing clothing and displaying â€Å"PDA†. Even†¦show more content†¦The religion of Taiwan is predominantly Taoist and Buddhist which is characterized by being very tolerant (â€Å"Religions in Taiwan.†). This tolerance could be why Taiwan is making such great strides in equality compared to other regions in Asia. Unlike the U.S., Europe has been doing extensive research and reforming laws (creating rights) to protect Intersex people (FRA.). The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights has a major focus preventing harassment and discrimination for people of the LGBTQIA community. The European Union has also been the leader in Trans rights and provide protection against discrimination in obtaining gender reassignment surgery. With the increase in pro LGBT support in many countries throughout Europe, there also has been a lot of backlash from other countries within EU which resulted in an anti-LGBT movement in Central and Eastern Europe such as Russia, Lithuania, and Czech Republic (GLAAD). Also countries that are heavily dominated by the Roman Catholic church are experiencing some conflict about marriage rights because even areas that have a pro LGBT government are still experiencing an adverse reaction from the religious community.
